VISITING ADVOCACY

Accessible, person-centred advocacy wherever it’s needed

Our Visiting Advocacy Service helps settings listen to children and young people, identify concerns early, and promote wellbeing through consistent, independent advocacy.

Our team of Independent Advocates, Coordinators and Managers of the service, have all had experience of working within a regulated service as well as direct one to one work with children and young people receiving services.

Advocate with young person

Safeguarding, Practice & Delivery
We follow Safer Recruitment practices and provide robust checks, training, and ongoing support for all advocates. The welfare, voice, and wishes of each child or young person are central to every visit, with all work delivered in line with safeguarding policies and procedures.

Advocates are trained by Reconstruct and, where appropriate, align with setting-specific training and behaviour management strategies. Visits are planned in advance to fit around routines, with consistent advocacy cover maintained to ensure continuity of support.

Through regular visits, advocates build trust by respecting each child or young person’s communication methods, boundaries, and lived experience. Individual advocacy support is available when young people need help expressing concerns or contributing to decisions affecting their lives. Where a child is unable to clearly communicate their views, Non-Instructed Advocacy is used to understand their wellbeing, safety, relationships, and development.

All visits are recorded, with feedback provided to the setting to support quality assurance and Ofsted requirements.
