Role: Senior Residential Care Worker
Location: Chorley
Salary: £38,000 per annum (£16 per hour plus £65 per sleep-in, based on a 2 on, 4 off rota)Full-time | Permanent

Our Client
We are delighted to be partnered with an experienced Residential Children’s Home provider delivering high-quality specialist services for children who have experienced sexual trauma, abuse, exploitation, and learning difficulties. Their senior leadership team brings more than 60 years of combined experience supporting some of the UK’s most traumatised children.They employ a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to providing care and support for children aged 11 to 17. This includes Therapeutic Care Practitioners, Quality Assurance professionals, Independent Visitors, and clinicians working together to deliver consistent, therapeutic care.
The Role
As a Senior Residential Care Worker, you will help create a safe, stable, and nurturing home environment for children and young people. You will provide direct support, contribute to care planning, model best practice, and take a lead role on shift to ensure high standards of care, safeguarding, recording, and team coordination.-
Ensure each team member understands the child’s care plan and their responsibilities in delivering it

Attend reviews and planning meetings, sharing clear updates to support the best outcomes for each young person

Undertake direct work with children and young people, acting as a positive and consistent role model

Maintain accurate records, daily logs, and case files to support monitoring, safeguarding, and quality assurance

Lead or support children’s meetings and encourage meaningful consultation with young people
-
Act as an appropriate adult during PACE interviews when required
Leading the Team
-
Provide clear supervision, guidance, and day-to-day leadership to the care team while on shift

Plan shifts effectively and support the smooth running of the home in line with policies, procedures, and regulations

Offer informal advice, formal supervision, and performance support to team members

Contribute to team meetings, communication, and staff development
-
Support safer recruitment, induction, and probationary review processes for new starters

Identify training and development needs and contribute to appraisals and personal development plans
-
Address conduct or performance concerns appropriately and support management investigations when required

Support the Registered Manager in delegating responsibilities and developing the team’s professional practice
What We’re Looking For
Essential
-
Aged 21 or over
-
Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People’s Workforce, NVQ equivalent, or a relevant qualification
-
Good knowledge of Quality Standards, relevant regulations, and the residential childcare sector
-
Understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusive practice
-
Strong teamworking, communication, and organisational skills
-
Ability to motivate, guide, and support others
-
Supervisory or management experience within a care setting
Desirable
-
Full UK driving licence
-
Level 4 or Level 5 qualification in Children and Young People’s services
-
Mentoring or coaching skills
-
Therapeutic parenting experience
