Diani Children's Village

DCV groupThe Diani Children’s Village was started in 1994 with an objective of providing orphans, neglected and abandoned children with a home. The home caters for basic needs; health care, education, recreation, skill building opportunities etc. This is to give the children hope and provide a foundation for a future independent life.

It is a registered Charity Home which runs on a voluntary basis and has gradually grown as it develops over the years. The children normally stay in the home until they are ready to leave that is, in their late teens, or when considered mature enough to take care of themselves.Mosquito nets

Reconstruct buys new mosquito nets every year for the Children's Village. Without this support the damaged nets allow the mosquitoes through and increases the risk of malaria from being bitten. Malaria remains the number one cause of death for children under five in Kenya. Mosquito nets are regarded as one of the most effective strategies to prevent malaria in Africa.
