Kate Mercer is an established specialist trainer in children’s rights and advocacy and has been responsible for the development and delivery of a number of nationally accredited training programmes in advocacy, peer advocacy, participation, children’s rights and training young trainers,. Kate is currently the CSIP lead responsible for the development of a National Qualification in Independent Advocacy and is also a Director of the Children’s Rights Officers and Advocates Association (CROA), the national membership organisation supporting independent children’s advocates and rights officers.
Kate spent her early career working with looked after children in secure settings moving on to manage a residential children’s home. She has a Masters Degree in the Ethics of Social Welfare and volunteers as an Independent Visitor.
