Smruti Mehta is a qualified social worker with a MSc in Child Development and Child Psychology from the University of London. She is currently an independent trainer, consultant and social worker and is also employed by a Social Services Department as Independent Chair and Quality Assurance Officer. She has 14 years experience of working in child protection and family support within local authority settings with various roles and responsibilities. These include being a deputy manager of a family centre and senior practitioner in a busy field child care team, supervising complex child protection assessments and a range of therapeutic work.
Amongst her major achievements, she was project manager of a Family Group Conference Project in a Local Authority, focusing on Looked After Children. She has also completed and presented research on the representation of Black Minority Children on the Children Protection Register. Smruti has developed and delivered a range of course on child protection/care issues across the country, with Reconstruct since 1992.
