Steve Chamberlain

Steve Chamberlain has been working in social care since 1978. He started his career with adolescents in a residential unit, and qualified as a social worker in 1983. During the 1980s he worked in a generic ‘patch’ team, undertaking child protection and child care planning work. He qualified as an Approved Social Worker in 1987.

Steve moved into a mental health team in 1991 and has specialised in working with adults since then. He continues to practice as an ASW and in the past five years has managed a Community Mental Health Team in central London, and also managed the borough’s central Approved Social Work duty service. He is currently seconded to manage the Older People’s Mental Health Service in the same borough.

He has worked as an associate trainer for Reconstruct since 1997, training mainly on Mental Health and Parenting, but also teaching Mental Health Law to social workers and other professionals.
