Stephanie Delaney

Stephanie Delaney has a Master of Arts degree in International Child Welfare, a Master’s degree in Social Work and a certificate in Systemic Therapy.

Stephanie’s experience in the UK is as a qualified social worker where she has worked with children where there have been concerns about their safely and welfare – not only undertaking assessments of need and risk but also in providing therapeutic services. Stephanie has also worked in the voluntary sector in the UK around children’s needs and rights, especially in relation to marginalised and minority children.

In addition to work in the UK, Stephanie has worked in India, on policy development, in Thailand providing training and constancy for an international organisation working to eradicate the worldwide sexual exploitation of children, and for a number of local Asia based agencies. She is currently acts as an advisor to an Asian Foundation (charity) working with HIV positive mothers and children.

As well as working abroad, Stephanie has travelled widely, so it is perhaps not surprising that she is interested in the various ways that child welfare is described and practised by different cultures.

Stephanie believes that the link between theory and practice is essential in providing effective support and services. The context of her work is ‘children rights’ with her focus being the emotional well being of the child.
