Since 1978, the essential focus of Geoff’s career has been the provision of Care and Education Services to Children and Young People. The profiles of the service user groups with whom Geoff has worked have varied greatly, and the contexts have ranged between home settings, foster placements, special educational provision and secure accommodation. Beyond such variation there has been the common thread of working with Young People whose needs and challenges are extreme.
Although Geoff has always maintained direct contact with the service users as a matter of positive choice, the characterising features of his work have been to concentrate on the functions of the Management of multi-disciplinary teams, and the provision of staff support through programmes of Learning and Development, Appraisal and Supervision. Work contexts have varied between launching new and innovatory Regional Resource Centres and holding positions in long established care and/or educational environments. The Management of change has repeatedly proved to be the key concern.
In addition to substantial experience as a Manager and trainer, Geoff has worked as a Consultant, undertaking both one-to-one and group work.
Geoff is qualified as an NVQ Assessor, registered with City and Guilds, and has assessed both Management and Care awards.
Beyond his career and family commitments, Geoff is a qualified martial arts instructor, general outdoor activities enthusiast, and avid mountain trekker.
