Daksha Mistry has a background in Psychology gaining a M.Phil qualification researching black identity development at the University of London. She has worked in youth work, education social work and family centres. She has worked with a number of different Asian communities including those in Brent, Tower Hamlets and Ealing.
As a manager of a family centre in Berkshire, Daksha was responsible for developing assessment and treatment work programmes for families where child protection concerns has been identified, chairing reviews and co-ordinating therapeutic support services. She has sat on a number of multi-agency committees which have addressed both the issues of developing services black communities and integrating anti-discriminatory work practices in predominately white areas.
Daksha has worked as a trainer and consultant for Reconstruct since 1992 and currently takes responsibility for operational management issues.
