Barry RaynesBarry Raynes is the executive director of Reconstruct and has worked as a freelance trainer and consultant throughout most of the British Isles from Shetland to Guernsey. He has overseen all of the serious case reviews and audits conducted by Reconstruct. He has experience as a residential social worker, social worker, manager and staff development officer. He has been made a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts for his contribution to child protection thinking. Barry has a Masters degree in Public Sector Management and is currently researching his PhD into common language in child protection, supervised by Jan Horwath from Sheffield University. He has had chapters published on assessment in Working for Children on the Child Protection Register (Arena 1999) and Assessments in Child Care (RHP 2003) as well as articles in Community Care and Representing Children. He has written web-based child protection and child care procedures for more than 50 Local Children’s Safeguarding Boards and Local Authorities in England, Wales and Scotland.
